Lokir’s Tomb is the first level I created using the Creation Kit that Bethesda provides with The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. I followed the Level Design tutorial on the Creation Kit wiki, adding my own flare and style as I progressed through the tutorial steps. The result is a short and dark journey through the ruined Tomb of Lokir. If the player chooses to interact with the debris scattered about they may find a book alluding to the fact that someone had once carried out sacrifices to the long-dead Lokir with the belief that he would eventually return to the world of the living.
As I became more familiar with the Creation Kit I continued to follow the tutorial, however I implemented the suggestions in ways that fit the narrative I was attempting to communicate. My sparsely lit and purposefully cluttered level highlights the depravity of the individual who committed unspeakable acts in the name of the tomb’s inhabitant. After solving a simple puzzle, the player faces Lokir himself and is rewarded with the contents of Lokir’s chest.
